How does WalletPet keep my cryptocurrencies safe?

Cryptocurrencies are not kept on your phone or device. They’re stored on the blockchain. The only way to access your Cryptocurrencies on the blockchain, is through your Private Address, and Paper Key.

Why do we emphasize on writing down your Paper Key instead of screencapping or storing in a computer?

If your phone or computer breaks or your hard drive becomes corrupted, you can download the same wallet again and use the Paper Key to get your crypto back. It must be kept safe like cash, jewelries, gold and diamonds.

Why does my Paper Key contain 12 random words? It seems very hard to remember and not really user friendly.

We referenced to the English-language wordlist for the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 39 (BIP39) standard, the list contains 2048 words and so if a Paper Key contains 12 random words, the number of possible combinations would be 2048^12 = 2^132. The key would have 132 bits of security. This is approximately the same strength as all Bitcoin private keys, so most experts consider it to be sufficiently secure.
Also, it’s not safe to invent your own mnemonic phrase because humans are not very good at generating randomness.

I lost my Paper Key, what can I do?

We are really sorry. Unfortunately, we're unable to help you regain access to your wallet if you've lost or forgotten your Paper Key. This is because we don’t have access to your wallet or your wallet password.

I lost my security pin, what can I do?

If you've lost your current security pin, you can reinstall your app and recover your wallet using your Paper Key to set a new pin.
However, if you haven't saved your Paper Key, DO NOT reinstall your app. You will lose access to your funds.
